Angels and Shepards
Dress up your little ones in Angel and Shepard outfits. Below are step by step instructions on how to make your own costumes (and it's easy!):
Angel Costume Instructions
Supplies needed: paper, cardboard, scissors, glue, pencil, tape, coffee filters, hole punch, 22" of elastic, pipecleaner (silver, gold or white)
Step 1 Draw a wing template on paper and cut it out
Step 2 Trace the wings onto cardboard and cut
Step 3 Begin wrapping edges with coffee filters
Step 4 Continue covering all edges
Step 5 After edges are covered, fold your filters in
half and stack from bottom. Glue in place.
Step 6 Fold the rounded edges under for a smooth wing.
Step 7 Cut an 8X2" piece of cardboard to bridge the wings. (We have used red tape to secure the back of the wing. Any tape will do.)
Step 8 Punch a hole in the center of your bridge and feed approximately 22" of elastic. Tie them together to make 2 loops.
Step 8 Punch a hole in the center of your bridge and feed approximately 20" of elastic.
Tie together to make 2 loops.
Step 9 Cover the backside of the wing with
paper cut to size for a finished look.
we also used left over halloween glitter hair spray to create sparkle for our wings
Step 10 Use gold, silver or white pipe cleaners and shape
into a halo. Secure halo to hair with clip or rubber
band to wings.

Shepard Costume Instructions
Supplies needed: 1 yard brown felt, 3/8 yard tan felt, chalk, fabric glue, staples or glue
Step 1 Begin with 3/8 yard brown felt. From center, cut on the fold 5 inches down.
Step 2 Cut across the fold 4 inches in both directions (this is for the head).
Step 3 With chalk, mark your arms and the length of the shepard top.
We went with 8" for the arms and 24" for the body. We cut in 2" to give the body shape.
Step 4 Next run fabric glue down your line. Fold the garment inside out, line up and press firmly.
Step 5 Take 3/8 yard of tan felt and cut a 2" strip of down the length to use as your belt.
Step 6 Dress the child in the shirt and secure belt around his/her waist.
Step 7 Use left over brown and measure a 2' piece for the crown of the child's head. Staple or glue the ends to form a circle. Secure the tan felt to the head using the circle remnant of brown felt as shown below.
Total cost: under $5
