Paint Savvy tries out a different type of paint!
Starblend is a pressed powder paint designed for face and body painting, produced by Mehron.
Here is what are users thought!
-Artist Kareena says "Easy to use, blends really well"
-Artist Lisa states "Great for cold weather applications as sponges and water were not required"
Paint Savvy supports this product but has the following feedback:
Great product, certain colors such as green were blotchy and difficult to blend.
Purple hardly showed up on the skin.
The colors are ok, but some pigments including blue, pink, orange, and purple are very fair on both light and dark skinned clients.
Brown, yellow, red and white tested best.
Overall a great alternative in cold temperatures, and for children who are unsure of a wet sponge.
Powders go a very long way and can be used on many many people which provides the professional make-up artist added value.
To apply this product we used a spatula with a flat 1" sponge applicator. Each applicator was dedicated to a color, so we had 12 total sponge applicators. We used the backside of the sponge for blending.
We used our regular #4 round brushes and wet cake make-up for the line work.
