Keeping children busy and occupied can be a challenge, but there are a few winning ideas out there to help keep them busy for some time. I was introduced to the the tape ball game other day by a Duke Intern assisting at an event my children attended. I have some video footage, but lets just say that this may have gone on for an hour if time hadn't been an issue.
It was a BIG hit!
How to play:
You will need, paper, masking or painters tape, and saran wrap
In addition to some fun (small toys, stickers or candy)
step 1: ball the newspaper and tape loosely
step 2: wrap each prize in saran wrap which will make it much easier to remove them as they are discovered!
step 3: begin adding small prizes to opposing sides of the ball, while taping a layer or two to conceal each prize
Step 4: once your tape ball is made, find a pair of dice (only one pictured because I couldn't locate another, but you will need two)
How to play:
sit the children in a circle. choose the first player to begin opening and another to roll the dice
On your marks, get set, go!
one player opens while the other rolls continuously for doubles. once doubles are reached, the opener stops and hands the tape ball to the one rolling and a new roller is chosen (usually the child to the left of the previous roller)
If a child unwraps a gift, he leaves the game to enjoy his/her prize. The game continues until all prizes are revealed.
