Celebrate Brothers and Sisters. Craft Ideas for Kids.

brother and sister scrapbook

May is the month for Brothers and Sisters Day.  We've come up with the following ideas for brothers and sisters to celebrate:

BROTHER AND SISTER BRACELET

Make a bracelet for your brother or sister to show your appreciation.  For the bracelet you will need to select 3 different things that are flexible and string-like in nature.  Each strand will represent 3 unique qualities of your sister or brother, and can be made from any material.

Examples of materials that can be used: yarn, string, paper, twizzlers, plant cutting, horse hair, rubber bands, straws, pipe cleaners, guitar strings and shoe laces.

Examples of qualities: purple paper for royal, blue yarn for honest, soft fuzzy material for kindhearted, flexible material for bouncy, shiny material for spirited, lacy material for intricate, Twizzlers for someone sweet and so on.

You can also write words or messages on strips of paper and use those for the bracelet.

Once you've selected your 3 strings, simply braid them together into a bracelet and tie on to your brother or sister's wrist.  You'll want to measure your brother or sister's wrist before cutting your strands, and add an extra 3 inches so you will be able to tie the bracelet on.

Here is an example of a bracelet Ava made for her brother out of a plant cutting, tin foil and a medal ribbon:

BROTHER AND SISTER SCRAPBOOK

Let your little ones pick out their favorite quotes about brothers and sisters and print them out on colored paper.  Then take pictures and print those out, or have everyone select their favorite photos of each other.  Assemble the quotes and photos into a scrapbook!

We've compiled some quotes for your use .  Another great resource for quotes about brothers and sisters can be found at the Quote Garden.
