Turn an egg carton into a Easter Chick Totem Pole with our
Easter Egg Carton Craft Tutorial and Templates.

What you'll need:

1. Construction paper.  We used yellow, orange and white.
2. Egg Cartons
3. Glue
4. Crayons
5. Scissors
6. Templates for Eyes and Beaks (see bottom of post for templates)

Step 1.

Remove top of egg carton from bottom.  The top can be used to store pieces for the project once they've been cut out, as in the photo above.

Step 2.
Print the Chick Eye and Chick Beak Templates onto colored construction paper and cut out.  We printed the eyes on white paper, and the beaks on yellow and orange paper.

Step 3.
Color the eyes with crayons.  The feet of the chick can be colored as well.
Those go in the bottom holes of the egg carton.

Step 4.
Glue the eyes into the bottom of the egg carton.  Then glue the beaks on the sides.  Pupils from the eyes are provided in the Beak template and can be added next.  Finish with a crayon or marker to mark dots into the pupils.

Feel free to improvise.  The carton can be colored with crayons before any construction paper is applied.  There is an option for big black googly eyes on the Bird Eye template, or you can create your own.

The egg carton used for this project comes from Born Free.  What's great about their cartons, beyond the beautiful colors, is they are made from recycled material.

Here are the Templates for the Bird Eyes and Beaks:
