Duke seminary student Anna Lawrence of Durham NC, had a bright idea of baking her cupcakes in an ice cream cone for her local church internship.
What a hit!
She used food coloring to dye some fun bright icing, colored cones, and vanilla and chocolate cupcake batter, and sprinkles.
She sat her cones upright in the cupcake tin holder(carefully) and baked them in the oven.
Suprisingly the ice cream cones looked great and faired perfectly!
The results were both stunning and delicious.
Paint a cookie DIY craft for kids
At the same event, veteran craft guru Mrs. Furr of McMannen Church in Durham concocted cookies that the children painted. She said the secret was to use just a smidge of baking powder so the cookies remain relatively flat during baking. This makes them the ideal surface to paint.
Start with your iced cookie, a craft paint brush(soft), and food coloring,
Mrs. Furr used 6-8 drops of undiluted food coloring on tea spoons
We dipped our brushes into the spoons and painted away!
Once our design was complete, we used a paper napkin to absorb our excess food coloring.
Wait a few minutes, now our cookies are ready to eat!
This was fun for everyone!
Thanks to Anna, Mrs. Furr, and Artist Olivia for assisting with this post.

I've also thought about trying to make these with waffle cone bowls. It seems like this would make a tasty exterior for a chocolate fudge cake. :)
